Dejan Guzina is Associate Professor in Political Science at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo (Ontario, Canada).
His major research interest intersects comparative democratization, ethnic conflict management, and external state and nation building in post-conflict states. Dr. Guzina’s current research is on the European Union’s accession policies and state building in the Western Balkans.
The research focuses primarily on the region’s specific policy challenges that are omnipresent across the region: bringing war criminals to justice, pervasive corruption at the state level and the lack of structural security and juridical reforms.
Dr. Guzina has published in several international journals, including Studies in Social Justice, National Identities, and International Journal of Politics, Culture and Society. Together with Professor Catherine Goetze, he co-edited a special issue of Civil Wars on Statebuilding (Vol. 10, no. 4, December 2008).
